How do I enter the competition?
  1. Sign up for the competition here or log in by entering your name and email.
  2. Complete the the New School Quiz
  3. Complete the Logical Reasoning Test
  4. Complete the Public Engagement Quiz
  5. Complete the creative case
  6. Write a short motivational statement
  7. Complete the competition by the April 1, 2014 deadline
  8. Apply to The New School for Public Engagement no later than April 1, 2014, http://www.newschool.edu/public-engagement/admission/
  9. Winners of the competition will be contacted by May 17, 2014


HOW WILL MY RECOMMENDATIONS AFFECT MY RESULT IN THE COMPETITION?

One finalist will be selected solely based on the number and quality of recommendations on Facebook. Share your results on Facebook and let your friends help you to reach the New School for Public Engagement in New York City!

AM I ACCEPTED INTO MY CHOOSEN BACHELOR PROGRAM IF I WIN THE COMPETITION?

Yes, we will only choose winners that have made a formal application to The New School (received by the New School for Public Engagement no later than April 1, 2014) and have been accepted into the school.

Who will judge the competition?

Student Competitions is involved in the first selection process where 20 finalists will be chosen. However, Student Competitions does not have any role in the final selection of the winners. The participating schools hold full responsibility for nominating the winners.

I AM HAVING DIFFICULTY LOADING THE PAGE. I THINK IT MAY BE A BROWSER ISSUE. WHAT ARE THE RECOMMENDED BROWSERS TO ENTER THE CHALLENGE?

The latest versions of Chrome, Firefox and Safari.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON’T ADHERE TO ALL THE RULES?

Student Competitions reserves the right to disqualify entries that do not follow the stated rules. Read more (link to the challenge tab).

WHAT CAN I WIN?

One full-tuition scholarship and one partial-tuition scholarship to New School for Public Engagement.

CAN I ENTER THE COMPETITION AS A TEAM?

No. We only accept entries from individuals. This as the scholarships are awarded on individual basis.

Does the scholarship cover housing and other living expenses?

The scholarship covers tuition and fee charges only. It does not cover housing, living expenses or food plans.

AM I ELIGIBLE TO ENTER THE COMPETITION?

WHAT DOES THE COMPETITION AND SCREENING PROCESS LOOK LIKE?

AM I ELIGIBLE TO ENTER THE COMPETITION IF I AM A CURRENT STUDENT AT ONE OF THE DIVISIONS OF THE NEW SCHOOL?

You are unfortunately not eligible to compete if you are currently enrolled as a student at the New School.

How can I prepare for the case question?

You cannot prepare for the case beforehand, but once you get the question, there will be no time restriction. You have until the deadline of the competition to finish your case solution. The case solution will be used as a tie-breaker, so make sure to spend sufficient time on it!

I DID NOT RECEIVE A CONFIRMATION EMAIL AFTER SIGNING UP FOR THE COMPETITION. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

If you did not receive a confirmation email within 5-10 minutes, try checking your spam box. Otherwise, please report the problem here.

WHY WILL THE SYSTEM NOT LET ME FINALIZE MY SUBMISSION?

In case of a technical error, please report the problem here.

WILL I RECEIVE A CERTIFICATE OF ACHIEVEMENT FOR MY PARTICIPATION?

Yes, all participants who submit a full challenge will receive a digital certificate sent to his/her email upon completing the challenge.

I AM HAVING PROBLEMS UPLOADING MY DOCUMENTS (LETTER OF ENROLLMENT, DIPLOMA, CASE QUESTION, ETC.) WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM?

Make sure the documents you are submitting are either .pdf or .jpg and do not exceed the 2MB limit. Furthermore, do not use special characters (such as á,à,ä,ó) to name your documents. If you upload a video url, make sure the url address is correct and valid.
